Finally got around to digitizing some cassettes and this one, 25 minutes of live Harry Pussy, while pretty grimey it is better than I recall it sounding at the time. I don't remember much of this show, I know the Hale Bopp Noise Ensemble opened up and I think the No Neck Blues Band played, too, but not positive on that. I am not sure if I recorded this inside of a messenger bag or if the sound guy (Art maybe?) let me set up Eric or Art's handheld deal by the soundboard. Regardless, it was recorded at the Balcony in Philly.
Anyways, I was and still am a huge mark for Harry Pussy and they were so over the top awesome to see.
Thanks to Acid Punks for giving the audio a bit of a cleansing, too!
Divided into two parts, first of which is 4 minutes or so, second is 20 minutes.
FLAC format:

Fabulous Diamonds @ Fire Oct 26 2010 (photos)
Really awesome and really loud, the incredibly charming Fabulous Diamonds were fantastic last night at Fire. So simple, but so wide open. Really tranced out dubby Krauty jams with those beyond echoed keyboards turning into fractals right there! If you dig their records, go see them! I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed.

Pics: Strapping Field Hands Nov 19 2009 @ Kung Fu Necktie

After an awesome Jesus Lizard show at the Starlight Ballroom on Wednesday, the class of '94 week totally continued with a rare (reunion?) show from the Strapping Field Hands at Kung Fu Necktie. Tons of old heads at both shows, lots of bald spots and glasses, mine included. I swear there more girls at the Field Hands show than the Lizard one.
Anyways, the Field Hands were great, a tad sloppy, sometimes out of tune, but totally perfect in their deal. Sure, I wish they had played more songs from Discus and I wish they were rocking the 2 drummer line up, but so it goes. The remastered reissue of the CD is due in Jan 2010 (available now on iTunes) and hopefully will lead to more Field Hands show. I would love to see them hop on that "do an album front to back" trend and play the entire Discus album in the future. At the Khyber. Fingers crossed. Anyway, here are some pics from from the shambling shamen. Sorry for the extra blurriness, but I was trying to recreate my mind state of 1994 with lots of porter and smoke.

90s... Pork Queen... Strapping Field Hands
Weird baked 90s lazy Sunday here in the Nice Pooper mansion, spent a day watching the Phils beat the Bucs whilst reading an old issue of Browbeat, that one with the big Metal Machine Music run down and such... which in turn made me dig out some old Pork Queen stuff on Trackshun Industries. The scrape and weirdness and all that jazz... found the vinyl I was listening to at WFMU's blog, with an interesting "what the fuck?" nugget about Trackshun/Pork Queen mastermind Justice Schanfarber was/is a marriage and relationship counselor. Also, check out the Noggin/Pork Queen split LP here at X Ray Barbecue. This in turn led me down one of those internet rabbit holes that dumped me at what may be thee album of 1991-1998 Philadelphia, the Strapping Field Hands' debut Discus found here at the You Shall Know Our Discography blog. Rumors abound about the Fields Hands reforming and man, that would be awes, let's break Dan Gill out, ship Wayne Nagy up, and hit the Khyber! Here is an interview with the Field Hands from the original Nice Pooper zine from 1994.
MORE: And keeping with the theme, here is another huge fave from that same 91-98 Philly era... the Temple of Bon Matin's debut LP on Siltbreeze, Thunder, Feedback and Confusion at the Decrepit Tapes Blog. No secret that this is my fave version of the Temple, saw them countless times back then, at the Punk Haus, Khyber, Pi Lam... yep. Anyways, this is the lineup with Mark Lux who now basses it in the Plastic Crimewave Sound. Their most Hawkwindy and grunge record, for sure... they never quite sounded like this again, alas. Awwright, tune in WKDU, turn up the A/C and bust out the new issue of Muckraker!
